ARTS Summer Musical Theatre Workshop for Kids
Since 1998 Actors' Repertory Theatre of Simi has offered an intensive "summer stock" type of theater training program for young people between the ages of 9-15 years. For five weeks the young actors work with a staff of five to eight instructors and aides, learning the music, book and dance numbers for a full, junior version of a Broadway musical theatre production that is performed on stage at the Simi Valley Cultural ArtsCenter during the sixth week of the workshop. Participants also learn about theatre etiquette, creating a character, vocal interpretation, artistic expression and working as a team to create a live theatrical production under the direction of a staff of professionals in a disciplined, safe and nurturing environment.
