King & I - Young Artists Ensemble

Young Artists Ensemble Presents Auditions for The King and I
Directed & Choreographed by Jeff Wallach Musical Direction by Zachary Spencer
Open to performers Age 10-19* Performers as young as 7 will be considered ONLY FOR 3 of the youngest children roles: the twins and the youngest girl.

The Rodgers & Hammerstein classic comes to life on the YAE stage. The story of the King of Siam and the English school teacher who inspired him to forge a free thinking nation is filled with such Broadway hits as “Shall We Dance” and “Getting To Know You”. A family favorite.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS Rehearsals held Monday & Wednesdays 5:30-7:30pm, and Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm beginning Saturday, September 15. All Cast and Parents must attend a mandatory welcome meeting Wednesday, September 12, 6-7pm

Performances November 2-18, 2012 Auditions, Rehearsals, and Performances take place at the HILLCREST CENTER FOR THE ARTS 403 W Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks directions

Please prepare a one-minute memorized song. Songs from the show are encouraged. If not singing a song from the show, auditioners are advised to look at another selection from Rodgers and Hammerstein's collection, or something similar to the style of The King and I. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. No a cappella auditions. A piano accompanist will be provided. Please wear clothes comfortable for dance. Everyone will be taught a basic movement routine at the audition. The audition will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
