AUDITIONS: Saturday, August 25th from 2:00pm-6:00pm

Take the Herdmans, the worst children in history. Add a Church Christmas Pageant, with a brand new director. Mix in a bit of chaos and a dash of comedy and what do you get? Why, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, of course! This delightful holiday tale gets a breath of fresh air on the Camarillo Skyway Playhouse stage this December.

Character Breakdown:

10 Adult Roles w/lines
17 Child Roles w/lines
 8-15 additional roles of mixed ages
The Bradley’s:
Father – Bob Bradley – Solid Family man (25-50)
Mother – Grace Bradley – Supportive Mother, Director of the Church Christmas Pageant (25-50)
Beth Bradley – Narrator, Strong voice and presence (10-14)
Charlie Bradley – Traditional kid brother (8-12)

The Herdman’s:
Ralph – The oldest, Cool (12-16)
Imogene – Loud, Bossy, Crafty (10-16)
Leroy – Sure of Himself (10-11)
Claude – Tough, Combative (9-10)
Ollie – Looking for trouble,
Claude’s partner in Crime (9-10)
Gladys – The youngest and worst, small, wiry, feisty (7-10)

Additional Families/ Children: Alice / Maxine – Beth’s best friends, Alice is proper and stuck on herself, Maxine is the reasonable one and is narrator for the Pageant (10-16)
Mrs. Armstrong – The busy body of the church who controls everything (40-50)
Church Ladies (4) – Must take over Mrs. Armstrong’s duties when she breaks her leg (20-50)
Elmer, Hobie, David, Beverly, Shirley, Juanita, Doris – children w/lines (5-15)
Reverend Hopkins – Leader of the Church (40-50)
Fireman (2) – Cameo roles (30-50)
Baby Angels (6) – members of the angel choir (4-7)
Angel Choir / Shepherds (20)- (8-16)

Auditions: Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Those auditioning for the Bradley’s, the Herdman’s or Mrs. Armstrong, may also bring a one minute memorized [comedic] monologue. Auditions will be held at the Camarillo Skyway Playhouse; 330 Skyway Drive, Camarillo, CA on Saturday, August 25th from 2:00pm-6:00pm. www.skywayplayhouse.org

The Best Christmas Pageant Ever is an inter-generational Camarillo Young Actors Company production. This means that the entire family can participate! Children under the age of 8 will be admitted by director approval. All those auditioning will be cast.

There is a fee of $210 dollars per child which includes a materials fee and 20 tickets to use, give away, or sell at your discretion. If you sell the 20 tickets at $10 each, you get this incredible experience for only the materials fee of $10! There is a discounted rate for multiple children from the same family. The entire fee will be waived for all adults cast in the production. Some scholarships are available.

King & I - Young Artists Ensemble

Young Artists Ensemble Presents Auditions for The King and I
Directed & Choreographed by Jeff Wallach Musical Direction by Zachary Spencer
Open to performers Age 10-19* Performers as young as 7 will be considered ONLY FOR 3 of the youngest children roles: the twins and the youngest girl.

The Rodgers & Hammerstein classic comes to life on the YAE stage. The story of the King of Siam and the English school teacher who inspired him to forge a free thinking nation is filled with such Broadway hits as “Shall We Dance” and “Getting To Know You”. A family favorite.

CHARACTER DESCRIPTIONS Rehearsals held Monday & Wednesdays 5:30-7:30pm, and Saturdays 10:00am-2:00pm beginning Saturday, September 15. All Cast and Parents must attend a mandatory welcome meeting Wednesday, September 12, 6-7pm

Performances November 2-18, 2012 Auditions, Rehearsals, and Performances take place at the HILLCREST CENTER FOR THE ARTS 403 W Hillcrest Drive, Thousand Oaks directions

Please prepare a one-minute memorized song. Songs from the show are encouraged. If not singing a song from the show, auditioners are advised to look at another selection from Rodgers and Hammerstein's collection, or something similar to the style of The King and I. Please bring sheet music in the correct key. No a cappella auditions. A piano accompanist will be provided. Please wear clothes comfortable for dance. Everyone will be taught a basic movement routine at the audition. The audition will last approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.
